Why we think Lawrence E Bauer is a Louisburg Jewel:

For Veterans Day, this Louisburg Jewel is specifically in tribute to Lawrence E Bauer of Louisburg, Kansas who was killed in action in the Vietnam War on April 30, 1969.

This author never knew Eddie Bauer. I only saw his picture posted on the bulletin board at Jobe’s Restaurant, the local hamburger stand that was located on the southwest corner of Amity (K-68) and Metcalf (Old Highway 69) every weekend. His high school yearbook picture was used to announce that he had been killed in Vietnam. Eddie served not one, not two, but three tours. He was the first local boy to die in the Vietnam war. I was 14 at the time, and I have recognized his photograph and his name ever since. Four years later this author enlisted, even with the reminder of those who gave their lives, like Eddie.

Never forgotten, always thankful, for men such as Cpl. Bauer.

Thank you, Sir.
