What is a Resilient Internet Connection?
Resilient Internet Connections, or backups, are based on the term “network resilience.”
Network Resilience, defined by NIST Computer Security Resource Center, “A computing infrastructure that provides continuous business operation (i.e., highly resistant to disruption and able to operate in a degraded mode if damaged), rapid recovery if failure does occur, and the ability to scale to meet rapid or unpredictable demands.”
In simple terms, it is a secondary additional internet infrastructure, or an alternate delivery method, to use if your primary provider goes down.
Why are the Miami, Cass, Linn, Franklin, and Johnson county areas experiencing more down time from other Internet providers?
Construction. Our towns are growing, the Kansas City metro is expanding and construction is everywhere, and the first rule of construction is . . . accidents happen. Many competing providers are linked to the same fiber backbone, and fiber can get cut pretty easily.
