Why we think Army Corporal Jacob R. Carver is a Community Jewel

Army Corporal Jacob R. Carver was born on April 25, 1990 and died in action on November 13, 2010, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, when a suicide bomber detonated a vest bomb and struck his unit.

Corporal Carver, a 2008 graduate of Cass-Midway High School, was a lifelong resident of Freeman, Missouri at the time of his passing.

Carver was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat and Special Skills Badge.

He is buried in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
