Why we think Pro 31 Tax and Accounting is a Community Jewel

Pro 31 opened its doors on November 15, 2013, and provides custom-fit personal and business tax and accounting services to clients nationwide.

Janet Houchen, 25-year resident of Louisburg and owner or Pro 31, said she chose to open the business in Louisburg because she wanted good job opportunities for people living in the area and recognized that the citizens of Miami County were very entrepreneurial. She was also highly motivated to set a good example for her children, and since she had enjoyed being part of a business leadership/financial team in the past, she chose to take the “leap-of-faith” as an accounting business owner.

In 2019, Janet was nominated by Ken Selzer as one of the Kansas Society of CPAs Women to Watch. She served one term on the USD 416 Board of Education, and served as Co-Chair of both the Rockville bond issue and the most recent bond issue to make district-wide capital improvements. She served 9 years on the Louisburg Area Recreation Association (now the Louisburg Recreation Board) organizing local sports for the youth, and had various roles on PTOs/PTAs.

Pro 31 belongs to several associations, including the Louisburg Chamber of Commerce, the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), the Kansas Society of CPAs (KSCPA) and the Rotary. Pro 31 is currently eight employees strong.
