Why we think the Miami County Arts Coalition is a Community Jewel

The Miami County Arts Coalition, Inc. cultivates the county’s visual, performing, and culinary arts with the slogan ”Creating a future where we express our dreams through the Arts.”

One way this Kansas not-for-profit corporation fosters Miami County artistry is by providing areas to display local artwork.

The Louisburg REMAX building, where GoBrolly was previously located, provides a display called “Reflections East Art Gallery.” The other gallery is called “Reflections Gallery” and is located at the Miami County Medical Center in Paola, Kansas.

Currently, the coalition is looking for artists to submit work for an exhibit to open the summer of 2018.

The exhibit, called “Fanciful Fun: The Art of Leisure In Miami County,” will feature original artwork depicting the diversity of the county’s recreational activities.

According to its website, this display promotes the “healthy environment, diversity and availability of Miami County’s leisure activities.”

In addition, the coalition maintains an Artist Registry designed to advance creative talent in Miami County. Anyone can register for free, with the stipulation that the artist either operate a business in or be a resident of Miami County.

Any artist interested in exhibiting at either gallery should contact Sandra Hartley at sandrakayhartley@gmail.com or 913-557-3828.
