Why we think Vince Whitehouse is a Community Jewel

Vince WhitehouseVince was a funny guy. I remember him always telling stories in a way that made me laugh. He was also a tough wrestler. In 1973 he was a state qualifier at Louisburg High School.

Vince joined the Navy after he graduated. I remember that he had a premonition about his fate. When he was home on leave, he told us all that “something bad is going to happen.” He made plans, preparations, and gave his things away.

He was killed on his return to his training base.

“18 year old Seaman Vincent Whitehouse was killed when a limousine he and 11 other naval personnel were being transported in, near Great lakes naval station, was involved in a car train crash at a rail road crossing. Seaman Whitehouse was a 1973 graduate of Louisburg Kansas High School. Vincent is the son of Donald E. & Sherry Mae (Crist) Whitehouse.” – Source FindAGrave.com

The bad thing that happened was that we lost him.

This Veteran’s Day, Vince Whitehouse is our community Jewel. Vince, you are not forgotten.

Thank You, Sir.
